What is mini cheders?

Mini cheders, also known as "pre-school cheders," are educational centers that focus on providing Jewish education to young children between the ages of two and five years old. They are often affiliated with Orthodox Jewish communities and are designed to prepare children for a more traditional Jewish education once they enter elementary school.

Typically, mini cheders offer a curriculum that involves teaching basic Hebrew skills, Jewish holiday traditions and customs, and basic religious observance. Children who attend mini cheders also engage in play-based activities, socialization, and learning basic academic skills such as math, reading, and writing.

Many mini cheders may operate in partnership with local synagogues or Jewish community centers, and may be staffed by trained and experienced educators. Parents typically pay tuition fees to attend, and there may be some financial assistance available to families who require it.
